ATTN: Tournament player readiness and conduct

Hello RCFHA Families,

The 2024-2025 RCFHA Tournament starts tonight! We’re excited to see all the teams in action! Before I get into Tournament-related reminders, I wanted to make sure you all know that Registration for the 2025/2026 Season is now open! Please consider registering now as we have an Early Bird Special that ends at the end of the Tournament. Please take advantage of cost-savings by registering now. All details are on our website: Youth Registration (2025/26) – Richmond Cosom Floor Hockey Association.

To help things run smoothly during the Tournament, please take note of the following important reminders:

  1. Tournament Schedule Updates: Please check the Tournament website page 24-25 Tournament – Richmond Cosom Floor Hockey Association regularly for any updates or changes to the game schedules. Staying informed will help ensure you’re at the right place at the right time.
  2. Arrival and Game Readiness: Arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled game time to allow for check-in and warm-up. Be ready to play right at the whistle—games will start promptly to keep the schedule on track.
  3. Sportsmanship and Conduct: As the tournament progresses, and games become more intense, faster, and heated, it is important to remind ourselves of the idea of sportsmanship, positivity, and fair play. At the forefront of our Association is sportsmanship and respect. Play hard, but be respectful. I want everyone to remember that this is a recreational league where most players are here to have a source of exercise, socialize, and have fun. Please keep that in mind at all times. I expect that all players and coaches in the handshake lines will act cordially and leave the competition on the floor at the end of the game. I also expect that all players and coaches treat each other with respect no matter whether you are winning or losing. Any distasteful language will not be tolerated. Coaches, please make sure to constantly instill the concept of sportsmanship and respect to all your players. You are role models to your players, and if you act with and instill respect, they will do the same.so please make sure to remember that. Finally, I would like to send a reminder to all parents, that it is important to be respectful to all other parents, players, coaches, and referees. Coaches are volunteers and referees are often Youth players. Please be respectful of the time and effort they are putting to help allow this tournament to run.
  4. Facility Rules: No food or drink (other than water) is allowed in the gym areas. Please help us keep the facilities clean and safe and eat/drink outside in the foyer at all locations. Dispose of any garbage in the designated bins.
  5. Time Change: A reminder that Daylight Savings begins on March 9th 2025. Please make sure to adjust your clocks accordingly, and arrive at the game at the proper time.
  6. Ramadan: We understand that Ramadan is being observed at this time. Unfortunately, due to gym constraints and hours, we are not able to make any changes to our hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
  7. Photography: One of our Association Members who plays in the Adult Division, Jade Dempsey, has been an integral member of our photography team. She is willing to offer some printing services to get some cool action shots of the players. If you’re interested in a photo, please send an email to jade.backlinebeat@gmail.com and send in the player’s name, number, team, and division. Feel free to visit her site here to find out more information, see the photos, and order: www.cosom.backlinebeat.com.
