RCFHA[25-26] Week 18 - SUN - Large Gym - Part B | Cosom floor hockey
THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING 50 YEARS & 2025/26 SEASON!
#floorhockey #50years #cosomhockey #glassestrend #endofseason
ParaCosom is our adaptive floor hockey program for children and youth ages 5–13 with a range of developmental needs and challenges. We launched this program in the 2024–25 season in recognition of the barriers often present in traditional, fast-paced sport environments, with the goal of offering an equally fun and accessible alternative.
Through extra care and awareness for physical, mental, and sensory needs, ParaCosom offers a hockey experience designed to support five main developmental goals:
1. Belonging, by fostering connectedness and friendship between players through inclusive group-based play.
2. Confidence, through celebration of progress, and achievement of personal goals set at tailored and appropriate levels of challenge for each player.
3. Social Skills, through activities that promote communication and listening skills foundational for positive social relationships.
4. Motor Skills, through sport activities and hockey drills designed to improve movement and coordination.
5. Fitness & Conditioning, provided in fun-first activities that encourage a lifelong passion for sport and exercise.
Sessions are one hour each, with the full schedule outlined on our website. Every ParaCosom session includes warm-ups, skill-building drills, and group activities designed to develop fundamental floor hockey skills while also supporting personal and social skills such as active listening and appropriate self-expression.
Volunteer coaches and players serve as program leaders and buddies; however, this program functions around the direct involvement of a parent/guardian with their child.
The volunteers are there to provide structure and guidance, the parent/guardian works one-on-one with their child to improve comfortability and facilitate participation.
All equipment is provided, and no previous sport or hockey experience is required.
