Marcel Doucet Scholarship Award

Overview

At the end of each season the RCFHA will accept applications for the Marcel Doucet Award and scholarship which is given to a player who has made significant contributions to the sport and the league, displayed a high level of sportsmanship and team spirit, all while maintaining the RCFHA philosophy. The award may not be given out every season.

Scholarship

A single award of $500 (subject to change) will be awarded to the successful applicant which can be used toward post-secondary tuition, books, etc. as seen fit by the winner. The payment will not be made until the winner has provided the league with proof of enrollment in a post-secondary program, and is valid for redemption up to 4 calendar years from the date awarded.

Application Process

Interested players must submit their application letter in Word or PDF format to the league President by
e-mail (president@rcfha.org) no later than Feb. 28th each year.

Application Requirements

The application requirements are as follows:

  • Applicants must be in grade 11 or 12 (or 1 year post high school graduation for the current season) at the time of their application
  • Applicants must be planning to enroll full-time in a Post-Secondary program at a recognized
    institution within 2 years from graduation
  • Applicants must submit a single page letter between 250 – 500 words explaining:
    • Future goals and plans to achieve them
    • Personal involvement with the league, including how you have benefitted the league
    • What the league, coaches and volunteers have taught you.

Selection Process

  • If required, due to a large number of applications, the President, Vice-President and Referee in Chief will choose up to 3 finalists for consideration by the executive
  • The current executive will vote on applicants/finalists at the last executive meeting prior to the tournament, with the winner announced at the closing ceremonies
  • Any executive member who is related to an applicant will not be involved in the selection/voting process in any way
